How hard is it to plan for, and design a video game?

Game development sounds like a walk in the park, right? Just make some character jump over pits, or shoot baddies, right? WRONG. Planning and developing a game is harder than one would think. Planning for a game is more than story, you also have to think "What will make MY game stand out from the rest of the games?" You need to think of twists, turns, strategies, player engagment, AND story. Then things like art, sprites, modelling, coding, composion, acting, animating, and more! Developing a game also takes several months to even YEARS! Games are the most interactive media, so you must show that. You have to program tight controls, every animation, certain attacks, ect. Gaming is not like a movie where you plan, shoot, edit, and you're done. You need knowledge on how to make puppets into realities. This is Kyle, logging off.
